Usually, Ivy, Prudence and I go out for cocktails and dinner, but I don’t know whether it’s the start of Winter or the old lady in all of us because we all wanted a night in. And let me tell you, I had more fun at Ivy’s night in, than I’ve had at any nightclub. Last night I felt like I was in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Ivy invited us over for a movie night and where most hosts would offer a block of Cadbury Top Deck and a bag of microwave popcorn; she was not one of them. Ivy was sending us SnapChats throughout the day of cupcakes and strawberries, but nothing could have prepared us for what she had in store. The night included a number of my all time favourite things in the world.
Firstly, I went thinking I would drive home but as soon as I walked into the kitchen, a bottle of Veuve and a jug of Pimms punch were staring at me, so it would have been rude not to have a glass (or two). On a side note, it was the best goddamn Pimms punch I have ever had. Secondly, there were pizzas from Café Affamato (they now deliver! #gamechanger) as well as the most amazing selection of sweets (cupcakes, peanut M&M’s, chocolate-covered strawberries, popcorn, fairy floss, cookies and lollies) and lastly good company. We ended up watching Something Borrowed (LOVE the Salt N Pepa dance) and What Happens In Vegas. No one appreciated my continual suggestions to watch The Princess Diaries (1 & 2) or The Prince and Me but I have girl crushes on Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz (who doesn’t?), so I couldn’t complain about the end result. The photos and lighting don’t do what Ivy prepared justice. But trust me, it was amazing.
Someone was a bit tired and couldn’t make it through two movies.
I also managed to take a sneaky snap of Ivy’s hallway. Her whole house is absolutely darling and completely gorgeous. I’m thinking a full home tour will be necessary for Bonjour Olive!
As we were driving home I said to Prudence and Adelaide how nice it is to go to an event (even if it is just a movie night) where the host has made an effort to make everything perfect. Thank you Ivy Melba – you truly are the hostess with the mostess.
P.S. I appreciate that it was a girls’ night in and wearing PJs was compulsory; I wore my navy and hot pink polka dot onesie (with a matching ribbon, of course).
