I’m all about sharing what I love, which is one of the main reasons why I started Bonjour Olive. As a part of this, I have decided to begin a ‘New England Region Guide’, highlighting the best bits of Armidale and its surrounds (Uralla, Walcha, Guyra etc). I think Armidale has a lot to offer and as it has recently been voted one of the top destinations to visit in Australia, people will be visiting the town from all over the country. To be featured in my ‘New England Region Guide’ a business has to impress me, and I am not one to be easily pleased. It needs to be something I would happily return to; something that I would tell my friends about. Without further ado, I introduce you to my first recommendation: Burgers By This Guy.
The last time I went to The Armidale Club was last year on Halloween, and let me tell you, it is an experience I would rather forget. Recently however, the team from Neram Harvest opened a burger restaurant in the club, and locals have been raving about it. Naturally, Prudence, Ivy and I had to try it. We went last night after our gym class (burning off calories to eat more) and it was to die for. Fresh, fast and tasty. Although the interiors and decor are less than ideal (think lounges that resemble Kim Kardashian’s 2013 Met Gala dress) and it’s presentation needs improving, the quality of the food and friendliness of staff increases its appeal. However, my favourite part of Burgers By This Guy is the marketing. It’s genius. All staff wear button up shirts with bow ties, and the burgers are named with quirky captions.
I ate Bruce, the “quintessential aussie, Bruce loves his ute, his woman and his beer; he’s a classic beef burger with relish, mayo, beetroot, bacon, cheese, egg and salad” and it did not disappoint: a classic, good old burger. We took one home for mum too, and she loved it. It was hard choosing Bruce because the other burgers on the menu looked delicious too (they sell Magnums for dessert)!
