I celebrated my 21st birthday a little over a week ago with ‘An Afternoon at the Polo’. I originally didn’t want a party but then stumbled upon this theme and knew it would be perfect. The weather leading up to the party was dreadful, with heavy rains and wind all week. It was bittersweet, as the farmers desperately needed the rain but ‘An Afternoon at the Polo’ just wouldn’t be the same inside. However, the weather cleared up on the Friday, and it was an absolutely perfect day on Saturday. Enjoy these little snapshots of the party!
Wooden letters bought from Lincraft and painted navy blue.
The party was held in our front garden.
Our gorgeous friend, Lynda, arranged the bunting to match the invites and
party colours (navy, lime green and hot pink).
Table centrepieces were flowers from the garden.
Upon arrival, guests were treated to Pimms & (homemade) lemonade.
Non-alcoholic versions for the kids, of course.
I printed the cup labels and bunting from Snapfish’s Printables Range.
Drink menu on the bar with retro straws (themed colours, of course!)
The bar cart was stocked for a big night!
You can’t have a 21st without baby photos! They were stuck onto a painted notice board.
We also had three of these giant polka dot balloons floating around.
My hot pink horse gumboots were perfect for the occasion.
The winner of Fashions on the Field won a jar of rock candy and a customised trophy.
The Cake! Kate Spade inspired of course! Cakes by Emma Jane made it and it was perfect.
Not only was the presentation of the cake superb, it tasted delicious!
The bag was chocolate mud and the cupcakes were white chocolate & raspberry.
It could not have been more perfect.
Setting the scene.
I love this photo of Audrey soaking it all in!
Surprise! The lovely Lynch family’s ponies, Eddy and Teddy, made a surprise appearance.
So. Much. Fun.
It’s not ‘An Afternoon at the Polo’ without ponies!
The dress code was ‘preppy’, which was a tad hard for the boys.
So, Karen and Nat, our beautiful neighbours, painted them all t-shirts!
You can’t really tell in this photo but Lynda had braided both the pony’s manes with navy, lime green and hot pink bows.
My dress is by Camilyn Beth (I seriously want every dress by Camilyn Beth.
So gorgeous and the best customer service).
My wedges are from Witchery (where else?) and are so comfy.
Here with Prudence, Jacob, William and Ivy.
You can’t really tell in all the other photos, but my hair was styled into a bow.
Priscilla from D-Fine Image turned my Pinterest hair obsession into a reality.
Because she’s so clever (and I’m hopeless), she also did my makeup.
Apologies (#sorrynotsorry) for all the photos, but I hope all you enjoyed this little snapshot of my 21st. It was perfect.
I said this on the night, but a HUGE thank you to the Lynch family – they all did so much to make the night what it was. In return, we’re giving them free advice about Disneyland 🙂
P.S. All photos were taken by someone at the party (most probably by Prudence, Sebastian, Ivy, Lynda, Karen or me).
